JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY

We’re looking for a capable, hands-on Building Maintenance Officer to join our Facilities & Maintenance Team. This role will be working part time (20 hours per week) with days and hours flexible to work with your needs.

This position suits someone with practical know-how who enjoys problem-solving, working independently, and learning new skills on the job.

What you’ll be doing

You’ll help keep our building running smoothly and support residents with day-to-day maintenance needs, including:

  • Completing general repairs across apartments and shared spaces.

  • Preparing rooms for new residents, including small fixes and final checks.

  • Caring for lighting, safety systems, and general property upkeep.

  • Keeping maintenance and safety records up to date.

  • Working with contractors and suppliers on site.

  • Assisting residents with a friendly, solutions-focused approach.

  • Participating in an on-call rotation for after-hours support (shared across the team).

What you bring

You don’t need a trade license to shine in this role. We’re looking for practical, proactive people with some relevant experience, who enjoy hands on work and learning new skills.

  • Some hands-on experience such as trades, facilities, home maintenance, general handyperson skills or similar

  • A willingness to learn and confidence using tools and basic technology.

  • A safety-first mindset

  • Ability to lift up to 12 kg and stay active throughout the day.

  • A friendly communicator who enjoys helping others.

  • Ability to pass a National Criminal History Check and Working With Children Check.
