JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY

The Placemaking Manager plans, develops and executes the strategic placemaking programme that drives interest and leads to achieve optimum leasing and financial performance, in line with Company’s business development goals. The role will focus on placemaking activities and events delivery to raise the profile of the development as an aspirational residential destination in London, drive footfall to the area and enhance stakeholders’ and residents’ overall experience.

Key Role Responsibilities

  • Develops and owns the placemaking programme, proposing large scale events and placemaking activities appropriate for the target customer and Greenford stakeholders, and aligned to the project’s stated aims to support placemaking, enhancement of the local community and resident experience.
  • Determines event goals, creates and tracks measurements and metrics of success; ensuring all campaigns and events have accurately recorded and reported ROI where possible.
  • Monitors market trends and forecasts that may impact planned event attendance, recommends changes and response strategies for opportunities, or to offset market downturns, and provides feedback and recommendations on improving attendance and lead generation.
  • Coordinates all stages of the event logistics: pre, during and post event, both on and off site.
  • Contributes to the development and management of the annual event budget for the project.
  • Works with Marketing, Design and external agencies to build and manage collateral, communications, promotional materials and website content for all events, with a thorough understanding of the product positioning, brand and leasing requirements.
  • Works closely with the retail delivery strategy, operational residential lease up strategy and development phasing plan to deliver a coordinated placemaking approach.
  • Deliver an art instillation programme, physical placemaking experience on site (in a retail unit), as well as plan and coordinate an events programme.
  • Works in partnership with Operations, Sales & Marketing to ensure marketing campaigns, advertising and promotional activities are effectively implemented.
  • Establishes and maintains effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders (Development, Sales, external agencies, Ealing Council, local businesses), communicating updates on the progress of event campaigns, strategies and results, including project performance data reporting and presentations.
  • Works with project management to develop and maintain a strong community engagement plan, including working with local schools/groups and other stakeholders.
  • Liaises and handles contract negotiations with third parties associated with event planning, sponsorships and partnerships.
  • Acts as the primary Local Community Liaison and, in conjunction with project management and contractors, deals with issues and complaints from local residents and businesses, actioning responses in a timely manner, maintaining an issues log and reporting to the project team as required.
  • Actively seeks interaction with residents to proactively seek to improve service delivery and ensure community events enhance the overall resident experience.
  • Originates, approves and submits purchase orders and processes invoices from vendors and service providers for payment and manages communication with finance team members and other stakeholders as required.

Knowledge & Qualifications

  • Educated to degree level (or equivalent) in Event Management or related field, ideally with an event planning or logistics focus, or qualified by equivalent experience.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office packages including Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Knowledge of event marketing via media, social media and content channels.

Experience & Skills

  • Demonstrable placemaking strategy execution experience, highlighting skills in Place Design, Place Activation, Place Branding, Estate Management, Event Management and Guest & Resident Experience management.
  • Experience of generating authentic, creative and realistic events ideas and successfully managing medium to large scale projects/events.
  • Experience in managing large budgets and being accountable for any variances.
  • Experience of working within the property, hospitality, retail or leisure sectors.
  • A proven track record of creating successful integrated event plans and campaigns with an understanding of KPIs and marketing techniques.
  • A proven track record of effective influencing skills in order to provide excellent customer service and diplomatically handle conflict and other sensitive situations involving multiple stakeholders.
  • Great eye for detail with creative flair and confidence to critique own work and others.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills (English), including the ability to effectively write and present reports and information to support strategic business decisions.
  • Excellent organisational skills, and the ability to work across multiple projects effectively under pressure and to deadlines.
  • Self and culturally aware and able to adapt relationship building, communications and negotiation skills to suit audience.
  • A strong problem solver with an inquisitive nature and the ability to understand the bigger picture.
  • A strong team player but capable of working autonomously and taking ownership.
  • Enthusiasm to deliver an exceptional experience to stakeholders and continuously improve knowledge of self and others.
